Kim Shuttlesworth
Head Band Director - Coppell High School

Ms. Shuttlesworth comes to Coppell High School from Glenn High School in Leander ISD. Glenn HS opened as the 6th high school in the Leander Independent School District. Prior to Glenn, Shuttlesworth served ten years in the Austin Independent School District, teaching at Small Middle School and James Bowie High School.  Shuttlesworth holds a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from The University of Texas at Austin.
 
Shuttlesworth’s ensembles have received superior ratings at UIL Marching Contest, UIL Concert & Sightreading Contest, and the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest. Under her direction, her programs have been UIL State Marching Band Contest Finalists, Bands of America Regional, Super Regional, and Grand National Finalists, and a recipient of the John Philip Sousa Foundation’s Sudler Shield in 2013. Her concert bands have consistently received superior ratings, advanced to Texas Music Educators Association Area Honor Band Contest, and her students have earned Outstanding Soloist honors at both the UIL State Wind Ensemble Festival and Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest.
 
Ms. Shuttlesworth has worked with summer programs over the past 15 years including the Music for All Summer Symposium, the Longhorn Music Camp, the Western Carolina University, and the Sewanee Summer Festival.  She is an active adjudicator, clinician, and consultant across Texas, as well as the country in both marching and concert band. Ms. Shuttlesworth holds professional affiliations with the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Tau Beta Sigma.

Ms. Shuttlesworth's dog Pumpkin is a frequent visitor to the Band Hall.
