Christy Springer received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Music at the University of North Texas, where she studied saxophone performance with Dr. Eric Nestler. Christy plays saxophone, clarinet, and flute in musicals at many of the local theaters in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, and has been performing in musical theater for over 25 years. She performs in various ensembles and orchestras throughout the metroplex and state, and has performed at regional, national, and international saxophone conferences. She has performed as a saxophonist with the Dallas Winds, the Richardson Symphony, the Irving/Las Colinas Symphony, the Garland Symphony, the East Texas Symphony, and the Waco Symphony. Christy teaches about 40 saxophone students at Coppell High School and Marcus High School and has been teaching privately for over 25 years. She regularly has students selected for the Texas All-State Band and has students selected as outstanding soloists at both local and state Solo and Ensemble Contests. She also has students selected to the finals in statewide competitions such as the Coltman Chamber Music Competition as well as the Houston Underground. In 2004, she recorded a CD of the complete collection of saxophone etudes from the “48 Famous Studies” by W. Ferling, a CD which sells to saxophone players and instructors throughout the state, nation, and worldwide.
