Hello Parents and Band Supporters!! Volunteers are needed to run the hydration station during summer marching band camp to help keep the kids cool and safe in the morning sun. The best part is that you get to watch the kids practice and meet other band parents/supporters! Adults and children age 13+ can volunteer, but please note there are a few positions that are for adults only. Student volunteers can earn community service hours.
In general, the band kids have a morning rehearsal block Tuesday July 29th- Friday August 1st where we serve fresh fruit and Gatorade during their 8am, 9am, and 10am breaks. We do our best to set up in shaded areas so that volunteers are not in direct sun.
For general volunteers, duties include setting up tables, prepping fruit and Gatorade into individual cups, cleaning up between breaks, and then clearing up after the last break. One adult is needed to be the point of contact during each shift to help communicate any needs to the summer hydration coordinator (Lori Rodriguez) who will be floating between the two locations.
For cooler crew volunteers, duties include assisting with filling coolers with ice and transporting them to needed locations.
For first aid volunteers, duties include tending to any minor medical issues, monitoring for symptoms of heat exposure, and assisting any student who is showing signs of heat-related issues. This is an adult only position and requires proof of first aid certification or proof of being a qualified health professional with relevant first aid training (your business card would suffice).
